One of the first electric quiz games, the Knapp Electric Questioner was a battery-operated educational toy manufactured by the Knapp Electric Corporation of Port Chester, New York, circa 1928–1930. Players used two metal probes to touch corresponding question and answer pegs on a grid; if the circuit was completed correctly, a buzzer would sound. The game came in a hinged wooden case and included various sets of quiz cards covering topics such as flags, animals, trivia, history, and geography. It also included a Morse code key and charts printed on the inside lid for learning wireless and landline codes. Created by inventor David W. Knapp, the game capitalized on the public's fascination with electricity and communications during the early 20th century.
